Balance Projects

Each partner is working on more recreation and accessible green spaces for everyone in their area.

In short:

  • In Belgium, the Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (Flemish Land Agency - VLM) is working on developing and restoring greenways in the area between the rivers Scheldt and Leie.
  • In the Netherlands, Deltanatuur creates tidal habitats and recreational possibilities in the area around the Spui river, near Rotterdam. Deltanatuur also develops an interactive exhibition to explain the importance of recreation and nature restoration to increase insights about the construction of large-scale natural wetland in the Dutch Delta.
  • In the UK, Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is a protected landscape, where efforts are being made to make parts of the area more accessible, improve visitor information and develop a strategy for tourism.
  • The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds(RSPB) will restore and improve the heaths, wetlands and coastal habitats in South-West England.
  • And Kent County Council is creating Cyclopark in the south east of England, close to Gravesend, Kent and will improve access to the wider countryside and establish new woodland and grassland habitats as part of a 43 hectares multi sport facility.
